New York’s largest oil refinery is now under fire from protesters who say the state is trying to cover up the truth about the spill.
A group of protesters at BP’s Gulf Coast plant in New Orleans said on Twitter Tuesday that BP “made the BP problem worse.”
The company has blamed the spill on an explosion and says the damage is limited to a small area.
BP spokesman Brian Ritter said the company has hired a private forensic engineer to analyze the damage, and the company is continuing to investigate.BP is a leading global oil company with more than 10,000 employees in the U.S. and abroad.
It has spent $10.2 billion on cleanup efforts at the site, and is working with local, state and federal agencies to address the environmental impact.
